The place where you are standing - the historic Bathhouse - has served the Atlanta community since 1926. Destroyed by fire, the original wooden structure was replaced with a granite structure designed by the architectural firm of Edwards & wayward. The firm was simultaneously constructing the building which still stands at 10th Street and Monroe Drive and was once used as a golf clubhouse. Georgia granite was chiseled onsite and used to create a new facility for Park visitors swimming in the lake.

Today
Renamed in 2008 for its granite walls, Greystone was expertly restored and renovated in accordance with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards, with an emphasis on accessibility, multi uses, safety and Park sustainability. These guiding principles for all Park improvements and operations reflect the Conservancy's commitment to sustainable practices, This Atlanta landmark now includes, among many other green features, high-efficiency water and energy systems, cool roof shingles, employee walk/bike to work, restroom/shower, rain gardens, and wide selection of native and other low maintenance plant materials. Greystone and the adjacent Piedmont Park Aquatic Center were designed with input from representatives of more than 50 constituent groups at a series of community meetings.
